Overview

Every decade we see massive changes in the IT industry. In the 80s we saw desktop computing flourish, and progressed to a client server model in the 90s. Mobile computing grew quickly in 2000 and beyond. 2017 presents a variety of technologies that may deliver IT efficiencies on a grand scale. Technologies and trends such as AI and Advanced Machine Learning, Intelligent Apps, Intelligent Things, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Digital Twin, Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers, Conversational System, Mesh App and Service Architecture, Digital Technology Platforms, Adaptive Security Architecture., and others may be game changers. How will you capitalize on these technologies, but more importantly how will your Enterprise Architecture embrace the digital world to support all the changes?

Conference Program

8:00am – 9:00am: Registration and Continental Breakfast

9:00am-10:00am: Enterprise Architecture Enabling Digital Business Transformation

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is the technical framework of an enterprise but it also transcends technology and integrates with the business. Therefore, the discussion and implementation of EA needs to done in an integrated, holistic manner. An integrated EA (business and technical) can provide the necessary support for a business transformation that makes the business ready for the variety of business and technological challenges it will face. For example, technologies such Big Data, mobile and cloud computing are all highly disruptive technologies that require a fine balance between their business and technical aspects as the organization moves forward.

In this session, attendees will learn how to they need to reinvent and/or refine their EA to embrace a digital transformation.

Content that will be covered:

  • How to drive business agility
  • An agile approach to drive business agility
  • How to pull together Cloud, mobile, Agile development, and DevOps to drive rapid product development

10:00am -10:30am: Refreshment Break

10:30am-11:30am: Effective EA Leadership Through Innovation and Business Strategy

How can EA strengthen leadership technically within IT and credibility with the business? Where should EA start if it wants to conquer both?

In this session attendees will learn:

  • How to take ownership of the major trends and challenges affecting the enterprise architecture and technology innovation leaders
  • How to deliver the highest value leveraging EA to drive innovation
  • Where to invest in leadership skills and competencies needed to capitalize in the digital age

11:30am-12:30pm: Enterprise Architecture as a Catalyst of Change

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is the technical framework of an enterprise but it also transcends technology and integrates with the business. Therefore, the discussion and implementation of EA needs to done in an integrated, holistic manner. Because the entire IT ecosystem is drastically changing, EA as a discipline has no other option but to embrace this revolution and anticipate these changes from multiple viewpoints.

Content that will be covered:

  • How to ensure a seamless cloud migration for your large, complex & decentralized App Portfolios
  • Get closer to Product Teams that require insights on more complex architectures
  • Leverage objective metrics to assist in the Agile Practice

12:30pm – 1:30pm Luncheon

1:30pm-2:30pm: How to Steer from Projects to Products with Enterprise Architecture

Digital transformation is leading the way for change in the way corporate enterprises develop software. Consumers are expecting highly engaged digital experiences in their lives and business is rapidly applying the those experiences to win markets. This also includes empowering internal customers (customer service centers, accounting, sales, etc.) with technology that drives efficiency.

In this session attendees will learn how to leverage EA to help change the culture from one of project management to product management.

2:30pm – 3:00pm: Refreshment Break

3:00pm-4:00pm: How to Derive and Implement Metrics to Achieve EA Governance Objectives

After you have designed and/or refined your EA governance framework, it is best to design easy-to-use metrics to help maximize the effectiveness of the governance process.

Implementing EA metrics can help simplify and validate architecture decisions and can then be used to articulate the value of the architecture to the business.

In this session, attendees will learn:

  • How to identify metrics that can be used by both the business and IT
  • How to assess and evaluate IT assets and their value
  • How to measure alignment with business objectives
  • How to measure risks inherent in planning for legacy modernization business transformation, or application rationalization initiatives
  • A series of steps for leveraging EA metrics

4:00pm-5:00pm: Business Outcome Driven EA and Alignment: Lessons Learned from the Field

Panelists will feature:
* Michael Sisto, Sr. Infrastructure Architect, U.S. Cellular
* Mallikharjuna Valluri, PMP, IEEE Sr. Member, Enterprise Architecture, U.S. Cellular
* And other CTOs/Enterprise Architects (EAs) from IT departments executives from IT departments

Old EA architectures focused on the needs of enterprise architects. To move the business forward, IT organizations must focus on creating a business outcome driven EA.

In this session, experienced EAs will shared their experiences adopting a business driven Enterprise Architecture.

Areas that will be covered include:

  • How this will improve business processes
  • Addressing specific business outcomes
  • How to work with other business and IT disciplines such as PPM, BI, Finance and HR
  • What is the ROI?
  • How to balance the right amount of resource investment

Conference Price: $289.00 per person

Each attendee will receive a certificate awarding 7 CPE credits for CISSP continuing education, in addition to 0.7 CEUs and 7 PDUs. CISSP is a registered certification mark of (ISC)², Inc.
