9:00am-10:00am: Agile, DevOps, and EA at a 150 Year Old Company

The focus of the talk would be to describe the evolutionary journey, challenges, approaches, and learnings at RRD over the past 4 years. 10:00am -10:30am: Refreshment Break

10:30am-11:30am: Cloud Native Software and its Impact on Enterprise Architecture

Patrick Emmons, CEO, DragonSpears

All roads lead to the Cloud, that much is clear to everyone at this point. Cloud native software is how startups and some larger organizations are taking advantage of this new paradigm. How does this affect the Enterprise Architect? Patrick Emmons is going to share what EAs can do to embrace the upcoming challenges and opportunities…and make sure you don’t get stuck in Mode 1 purgatory.

Emmons

11:30am-12:30pm: Digital Business Architecture: The Value and Trade-offs of Low Code and No Code

Jason Urban, Principal Consultant, Spark Systems

The focus of this presentation is to review the explosive growth of Low-Code and No-Code Development platforms solutions across businesses today. The presentation will review unique features of both Low Code and No Code solutions, the current leaders in their respective market segments, and advantages (and disadvantages) of both development platforms.

12:30pm – 1:30pm Luncheon

1:30pm-2:30pm: The Evolving Architecture for Secure Remote Access

Dean Sharp, Global Network Architect, Manpower

Secure remote access is a critical component to doing business for most companies. Developing an architecture roadmap for secure remote access is an evolution as security pressures, better users experiences and moves to the cloud are fundamentally shifting the way organizations approach secure remote access globally. While roadmaps are a part of strategic planning and enterprise architecture, there also needs to be flexibility with the architecture to account for change without impacting end users or disrupting the business. Moving from the current to future state architecture can be challenging, especially when technologies are often times brought in out of sequence to address immediate business/security concerns. Communication, interoperability and new technology approaches are keys to a successful secure remote access architecture driven by the rapid adoption/disruption of moving applications, data and datacenters to the cloud.

2:30pm – 3:00pm: Refreshment Break

3:00pm-4:00pm: How to Derive and Implement Metrics to Achieve EA Governance Objectives

After you have designed and/or refined your EA governance framework, it is best to design easy-to-use metrics to help maximize the effectiveness of the governance process.

Implementing EA metrics can help simplify and validate architecture decisions and can then be used to articulate the value of the architecture to the business.

In this session, attendees will learn:

  • How to identify metrics that can be used by both the business and IT
  • How to assess and evaluate IT assets and their value
  • How to measure alignment with business objectives
  • How to measure risks inherent in planning for legacy modernization business transformation, or application rationalization initiatives
  • A series of steps for leveraging EA metrics

4:00pm-5:00pm: Business Outcome Driven EA and Alignment: Lessons Learned from the Field

Panelists:
Nimrod Bareket, Senior Enterprise Architect, US Cellular
Yabing Wang, Chief Security Architect, Alight Solutions
Sudha Dhar, Director, Enterprise Architecture, Cummins
Malcolm Neumeyer, Enterprise Architect, KAR Auction Services
and other Chief Enterprise Architects sharing experiences and lessons learned

Old EA architectures focused on the needs of enterprise architects. To move the business forward, IT organizations must focus on creating a business outcome driven EA.

In this session, experienced EAs will shared their experiences adopting a business driven Enterprise Architecture.

Areas that will be covered include:

  • How this will improve business processes
  • Addressing specific business outcomes
  • How to work with other business and IT disciplines such as PPM, BI, Finance and HR
  • What is the ROI?
  • How to balance the right amount of resource investment
