When migrating your applications to the cloud, leveraging a single cloud provider is relatively simple, however, the challenge is vendor lock in. Leveraging multiple cloud providers may help you avoid vendor lock-in, however, it can get more complicated as there are several different models for leveraging a multitude of providers.
Pros and cons of different approaches will be discussed as well as the different models.
11:30am-12:20pm: Creating a Data Migration Plan
Tom McKowen, Cloud Computing Architecture, US Signal
Jim Schuyler, Inside Solution Architect, US Signal
Migrating data is one of the most challenging parts of a cloud migration. The location of your data can significantly impact the performance of your application. Moving your data to the cloud when the data-access methods are still primarily on-premises can impact performance. Similar performance issues may occur if the data is still on-premise but the service accessing it resides in the cloud.
In this session, attendees will learn best practices for data migration.
12:20pm – 1:10pm Luncheon
